Small Changes Change the World...

If you have children than you know just how small the universe really is. Small enough to fit in a onsie...
Even now as I write this she is squealing away, investigated the lid of my water bottle and squalking with excitement in the midst of her discovery. My whole  universe in a onsie.

After having a daughter it's hard to imagine life without her...or even just life BEFORE her. Having a child has transformed my desire to leave the world better than I found it into a passion, a MISSION. It's not just about leaving a legacy, its about leaving her with something MORE.

Enter Unnatural Selection, a text by Mara Hvistendahl. It will blow your mind. I'm reading it now, one chapter at a time because that's all I can do.

One chapter....whew, ok take a break.

The old adage  is true, knowledge really is power. The sad truth about gender selection and its GLOBAL effects is that we can't just leave it to the next generation, we can't just let them deal with the problem later because the next generation will be largely unavailable, millions missing. By the time my daughter is my age the world will look dramatically different, significantly fewer females will change the face of the planet. Not just the looks of things either, fewer females mean all kinds of issues that we've never faced as a PLANET before.

My plan is simple: learn something , then do something.

I'd like to invite you to join me...a sort of virtual book club, each week I will read one chapter and share my thoughts here, we can move through the book together.  We will learn together.  Then hare this blog with friends, start conversations, bring it to peoples' attention... do something. Small changes  can change the world...and maybe even the universe ;)

See you next week...
